Having spent my earliest years happily playing on the beaches in Portugal, I feel a sense of home around the ocean. For me there is nothing like the sound of the surf crashing onto the shore, the clean invigorating scent of salt water, and the amazing sensation of being carried along by the waves. I’ve also noticed that everything tastes better when eaten at the beach. Some of my most fond memories of beach food in Portugal are the crisp kettle-cooked homemade potato chips (sold by a vendor trudging across the beach hawking his wares) and the Olá (Portugal’s version of the Good Humor ice-cream brand) ice-cream treats.
Since I’m miles away from my native country and no trip to visit is in sight, I can only pay homage to what I love most here with my designs, my words, and my imagination. Até breve!
