In rendering the glass face of yesterday’s Snow Maiden Brooch, I was disappointed that I couldn’t successfully achieve the realistic translucent effect I was after by using very diluted watercolor pigment on black paper.  Any subsequent layering of paint just seemed to “cloud” the effect.  I decided to create another translucent piece, this time using a combination of colored pencil and watercolors.  I think the translucency of the glass donut is more successful here:
