As promised, here is a summary of my progress this week (Week 2) with the Empire Building Kit.

Most exciting this week was an excellent and inspiring video with Charlie Gilkey of Productive Flourishing.   I took a full page of notes and will re-watch the video again soon.  I also have subscribed to Charlie’s blog and have made use already of his free planner downloads.   Even for someone as disciplined and organized as I am, these planners help with prioritizing projects, setting deadlines, recognizing milestones and tracking progress.

One of the most important points that Charlie made in the video interview for the Empire Building Kit was the recognition and utilization of peak performance times.  No one can work at 100% energy all day.  (I know, I’ve tried and it doesn’t work.  At the very least, you do odd things like leaving your keys in the door lock on the OUTSIDE of the door!)  For creative people, scheduling your creative work for your peak energy times may seem like a no-brainer.  However, if you are also like me, it is easy to find that precious time taken up with emails, social networking, house-cleaning, chores, etc.  Those things are all important, but can be done at non-peak energy times.

Make your peak energy times count!

Another very important point Charlie makes is that you have to make time for yourself, or your business will consume you entirely.  I’m terrible at carving out time for myself.  In fact, I’d give myself an F in that subject.

So, with that in mind, I’m logging off now…

How will you use your time tomorrow?
