Sometimes amid all of the stresses of my life, I forget how truly blessed I am.  I have

  • my health
  • a husband who can’t get out of bed each day unless he “spoons” around me for at least 15 minutes
  • a wonderfully supportive and loving family
  • great friends who cheer me on
  • a drive to create beauty around me

AND…

  • a sense of humor

Speaking of sense of humor, even though I’ve often sometimes felt like my NY job search has been an exercise in futility extreme patience, even there I’m grateful for the little gifts that come my way.  Take for example the “bloopers” I’ve come across in job postings.  These have added some much needed levity to my days; in fact, I’ve even started to compile a list of the best ones.  These “gems”, taken from jewelry job, as well as from creative job listings, are among my favorites:

WANTED –

“Newborn Photographer”

“Now Hiring Music Teachers”

(“Teaching experience a HUGE plus!”)

“Jew Administrator”

Remember…

“A man isn’t poor if he can still laugh.”

(Raymond Hitchcock)

“Laughter is an instant vacation.”

(Milton Berle)

“The most wasted of all days is one without laughter. “

(e.e. cummings)

I received the gift of knowing how to laugh at myself from my best friend in high school. (Still my friend today!)

My favorite work blooper happened to a friend who did customized work on payroll systems for a large software company. The first run of her new business cards said, “customer programmer.”

      Hi Nina,

I love it! That blooper reminds me of a wonderful book called Anguished English – An Anthology of Accidental Assaults Upon Our Language, by Richard Lederer. The book is arranged into chapters of bloopers collected from different sources. I remember the newspaper bloopers as being very funny, as are the school excuse notes…i.e. “Please excuse Susi today. She is sick in bed with gramps.”

I’m up to my eyeballs in boxes right now and would love to be in bed myself;-)

    • Thanks, Jen! I’m so glad to hear from you again. Since I got off of FB, I haven’t been able to keep up quite as well with what you are doing, but I do see you on LinkedIn.

I hope everything is well with you and with the business!

      All best wishes,
      Joana
P.s. What pieces are you currently playing on the violin?
