Aack! Could it be? Am I at the half-way mark in working through the year-long Empire Building Kit?
It really is hard to believe that I started Chris Guillebeau’s Empire Building Kit in May, and even harder to believe that May is now six months behind us. Where did the time go? Oh yeah; it went into packing up almost an entire house’s worth of belongings, spending another month in limbo trying to move to New York City, and then the past two weeks moving and trying to unpack as fast as possible. In the horizon is still more packing and travel, but that is too exhausting to contemplate right now.
In the meantime, I’ve given birth to a new series of designs and you can be the first to see my slowly growing new shop at Etsy featuring original cards and prints. While you’re there, if you like what you see so far and want to make my day, please ” ♥ ” me (Add to Favorites). Doing so doesn’t cost a thing, but helps increase my visibility, and you can be proud of doing your charitable deed for the season.
And speaking of charity – the real kind – I just received letters today from two 5-year old children who contacted me through New York Cares, a local charitable organization I recently joined. I’ve volunteered to be a part of their Winter Wishes holiday gift drive. Cheyann wants a “princess barbie” and Jimmie wants…
(Unfortunately, Jimmy’s handwriting is not as good as Cheyann’s, but since these gifts may be the only ones these children get this Christmas, you better believe I’ll be calling their teacher to get help with translating Jimmy’s wishes.)
So, where am I with building my Empire? I’m not where I thought I’d be, but I’m having the time of my life. I’ve realized yet again that change IS good. That I need less to live on than I thought, and that there is still enough left over to share with others.
Intrigued by the Empire Building Kit? Chris is offering his once-a-year 15% off sale on all of the products in the Unconventional Guides shop now through Monday, November 29th. To get the discount, all you need to do is use the discount code “PUMPKIN.” In addition to receiving the 15% off, you can also feel good knowing that Chris will up his donation to his water project in Ethiopia from 10% to 15%.
Now that is certainly something to be thankful for!
