They’re up and as fabulous as ever!
Walk along Bergdorf’s on 5th Avenue at dusk…
And you’ll enter a world where everyone is dressed with somewhere to go.
The paparazzi are old-fashioned, but present all the same…
While ice princesses keep company with a menagerie of frosty critters.
In the underworld, the mermaidens float above rhinestone and glass mosaic encrusted sea life…
While nearby, a world of luxe…
Has sprung from cut paper.
This is the time to kick up your heels…
Since all eyes will be on you!
Whether you’re a silver kind of gal…
Or go more for gold…
You can be sure we’ll stay to hear you sing!
I bet you’ve been on photography walks with your pal Tom! Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi Helen,
Yes, Tom, Don and I went to see the windows together, and today Andy and I went up to visit them on their 22nd floor balcony so we could watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. Fun! Tom made cranberry muffins, doughnuts and hot cider…I felt very regal up there with the view and refreshments.
I hope you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving today and a nice day off from work.[?]
Joana
Hi! It’s a long shot, but is there any chance you know the designer/style name of those GORGEOUS red ruffled pumps? 🙂
Hi Chloe,
After poking around fruitlessly on the internet for a while this morning, I remembered that I had an afternoon dentist appointment near Bergdorf Goodman. So after the dentist, I took over my picture of the red ruffled shoes to the BG shoe department. The shoes are by Tabitha Simmons. Unfortunately, they are “last season”, so apparently they aren’t available any more. (Perhaps that’s in the big retail stores, but you might be able to find them somewhere else.) Good luck!
Thanks for visiting my blog!
Joana
Hi Joana,
Thanks so much for doing all that for me! I have found the shoes on Tabitha Simmon’s website. And they’re on sale. It’s fate!
I could never have found them without your help, so thanks again for going to all that trouble, I really appreciate it!
Great blog and amazing photos, by the way! The Bergdorf Goodman 2011 Christmas Windows were spectacular, and definitely one of the highlights on my trip to New York last year. 🙂
Hi Chloe,
How cool that you found the “French maid” Tabitha Simmons shoes – and on sale, too. I’m glad I could help. I don’t usually go into Bergdorf’s, so it was a fun experience for me too.
(I’ve got Tabitha’s website and the Google images of her shoes bookmarked now. I might not be able to afford them, but they will surely provide some inspiration for my upcoming “Josephine” illustrations.[?])
Hope you have a nice week! Joana
Hi Joana,
Ahh, I suppose the shoes wouldn’t reeally be a logical purchase for me at present, but they’re something pretty for me to aspire to be able afford, I guess! I really like your illustrations, and will be keeping an eye out for the French Maid-inspired Josephine illustration :).
Chloe
Hi Chloe,
I sympathize about the shoes. I keep thinking I need a pair of leopard-print pumps, as well as a pair of snazzy red pumps. However, every time I get dressed up, it’s usually for a performance I’m doing and BLACK is the dress code. So, Josephine is the only one getting to wear the leopard and red heels these days.;-)
Thanks for the reminder of the French-maid inspired Josephine…I’ll work on that!
With all best wishes, Joana
