As a freelance musician, you take the work as it comes.  Sometimes the load is light, other times it’s insane.

My schedule this week…

4 ballet performances

5 rehearsals on two different operas

1 opera performance

4 students

…borders on the insane.

And, as if to prove that I am really losing my marbles, today I got on the C train going in the WRONG direction on my way home.   But not before I had a chance to snap these 5 photos of the mosaics in the 42nd Street Station…

How about you?  Do you have all your marbles?

  1. Olá Joana,
Estou a ver que por aí as horas têm estado bem ocupadas.
    Ainda bem.
Esses paineis são muito bonitos e as fotos também.
    Ciao,
    Pedro

      Ola Pedro,

Sim, a semana passada fiquei doida de trabalho. Part of what made it stressful, though, was that all of the opera commitments are in Brooklyn. Going sightseeing in Brooklyn is one thing, but when you need to be there at a specific time, you have to study the subway schedules more carefully and plan with quite a bit of extra time.

Hoje tenho o dia livre. Vou gozar fazer nada! (Ok, maybe not nothing, but only fun work…)

Espero que todo vai bem com tigo.

      Ciao – Joana

      Hi Ma,

The marbles are at Times Square/42nd St. Station…and I met the artist at a gallery last year. She had some other artworks (mainly paintings) on display at the gallery.

Off to use my marbles at the ballet now…

      Love,
      J

      Hi Nina,

We’re doing 4 performances of La Traviata, and 4 performances of an opera called Prima Donna by Rufus Wainright. Just got home from the Traviata dress, and I’m off to play a ballet performance tonight. Then tomorrow we rehearse Prima Donna (and I have another ballet show at night.)

      Ciao –
      Joana

Wow, that’s a great mosaic, and wow, that’s a ridiculous schedule. I’m surprised the services don’t conflict. I would say I’m busy enough to feel a bit scattered lately, but not like you!

      Hi Helen,

Sorry it took me so long to write back! I’m done with week 1 of my crazy schedule and am just about to become a couch potato with my hubby. We’re deep into watching the Sopranos on DVD. We never saw it when it first came out, and we’re hooked now.

Hope you had a great weekend and have a nice Monday off!
      Joana
