Many years ago I read a very short story that stuck with me. The parable – Lost Treasures (my title) – was contained in the Surangini Tales by Partap Sharma, and I’ll do my best to retell it as I remember it here…
♣
A young boy saw a beautiful yellow leaf on the ground. He picked it up and gave it to a young girl. She found it useless, and when the boy had his back turned she threw the leaf away. Later, when he asked her about it, she told him that she had lost it. As the boy walked away with his eyes cast down she thought how silly he must be to be looking for that one yellow leaf among the thousands of others on the ground.
