I’m spending a few days now in Washington, DC….not working, just getting some much needed rest and being “the wife” as my husband slaves away conducting performances at Kennedy Center.  (In case you’re in town, here is the schedule for the New York City Ballet performances.)

Even though the sky was gray today, the temperatures were warm and the rain held off.  Which gave me the perfect opportunity to take these shots…

Oh my. You mean Spring has sprung somewhere? It might even spring HERE? Someday? The pictures give me a teeny bit of hope – thank you my dear pixel.

Yes, it’s happening here, so I know it will happen in Oberlin, too. Plus, I saw the buds coming up in your backyard…which is pretty amazing given that two days before they were under a 5 inches of snow (and I might also have stepped on them when I was shoveling.)

Gray skies are actually the best for photographing flowers……their colors are more intense in those conditions. Hope you’re doing well and getting some good rest!

Thanks so much, Helen! Today Andy and I walked to the Tidal Basin to see the cherry blossoms…only there weren’t any because the trees aren’t in bloom yet. Unfortunately, they’ll probably bloom sometime next week when we’re back in NY. But at least we’re right near the park there and can see our own cherry trees. There, take that, Washington, DC!
