As a resident of the Big Apple for just under four years, I don’t suppose it’s fair to call it “my” fair city. But it does feel that way to me. In fact, I now find it hard to imagine living anywhere else! New York is a city of neighborhoods – a melting pot of people from all walks of life – and a veritable feast of sounds, smells and sights.
After all, where else can you look up to see this…
And look DOWN to see this…
This…
This…
This…
And this?
(P.S. The Observatory views at the Empire State building are still worthwhile on a cloudy day.)
I was there when I was 10 but haven’t gone up to the top since then. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Susan,
The last time I was up on the Empire State Building (before this trip) was when I was 12. I remember my knees shaking as I looked down. This time they didn’t shake, but I took all of those photos one-handed as I held onto the railing with the other hand. Guess the height still gets to me…;-)

Oh lovely. I always enjoy reading/viewing your posts about the Big Apple.
Hi Celeste,
I’ve been enjoying showing my cousin (from Brussels) around. It gives me the guilt-free opportunity to do touristy things…not to mention that I’m also proud of how well I actually do know the city now! (Of course, there is still lots to learn and places to go, but I’ve now got favorite haunts in a lot of different places around the city and in Brooklyn.
I hope you are doing well! I always enjoy reading your posts and seeing pictures of your girls!
🙂 Joana
