      Hi Natella,

So nice to hear from you! Yes, things are good in the Big Apple. I’m loving having the time to work on my illustrations – and it doesn’t hurt that the weather has been pretty spectacular. We’ve hardly had any really hot weather this summer which is actually unusual.

How are things with you? Are you painting?

      With all best wishes, Joana

        Hi Joana,

This is great! 🙂 Good thing that you have time to work on the illustrations and that the weather is great! Here, it’s other way around, we’re having hot weather, but it doesn’t bother me too much as I’ve been also working on finishing all of the paintings I’ve started earlier. I have just a few of them left and my mother already photographed most of them. We just need to go over the photographs one more time when the light is good and make few manipulations in Photoshop, so that the pictures reflect the colors that are in the paintings. I found out that it’s really hard to get them the same as in paintings, even if you have a really good camera, light and all other conditions. Once I’m satisfied with the results, I will give you a link, so you can check them out 🙂 your opinion is valuable to me! 🙂

Did you go on vacation anywhere or are you planning to? I’d love to go somewhere, but it’s only in a dreaming / visualization stage right now 🙂 However, I’m lucky to live by the seaside. We’ve spent few weekends at the beach and it was marvelous. I love swimming in the sea and reading a good book at the beach. I’ve been gifted a Kindle version of ‘Man repeller’ by Leandra Medine just yesterday & I’m looking forward to reading it. I’ve been suggested this book on one of the fashion related websites, but from the first few pages it seems really fun and not only about the fashion. Did you come across any good books on art or any other topic lately?

        Have a great day!

        Best wishes,
        Natella

          Hi Natella,

Thanks so much for the lovely message on my blog. I just came back from a few days away visiting my mom in NH. We lucked out with the weather on our little trip to the White Mountains and our visit was really memorable. I posted pictures on my blog, so you’ve probably already seen them.

Photographing any product really does have its challenges. I struggled a lot when I had to photograph jewelry; then when I started trying to photograph my greeting cards, I learned that there’s a learning curve to that, too! Mostly, I’ve side-stepped the “photographing paper issues” by just scanning the cards and creating digital mockups. I have a friend who creates large-scale pastel artworks and I know that he’s complained about the same issues you are having. Have you been able to tweak the colors satisfactorily in Photoshop? I look forward to seeing the link when you have a chance to send it.

My husband and I will be travelling to Europe soon and we’re really looking forward to the trip. I’ll probably save most of my picture posting until I get back since I won’t have much internet access…a holiday from the computer is also important now and then!

I hope you have a good end of the summer and a happy start to your fall.

          With all best wishes, Joana
