Ok, we actually were in Obidos, Portugal on a Friday; but it WAS brilliantly sunny, and was one of the most enjoyable days we spent on our recent trip overseas. I’d never been to this charming town enclosed within the walls of a medieval fortress.
Only an hour by bus from Lisbon, Obidos is well worth a visit!
Pass through the city gates…
And you’ll emerge into a picturesque town with quaint cobblestone streets…
And quiet side alleys leading to the dwellings of the approximately 3100 inhabitants who call this town home.
It’s impossible to take a bad picture here. From the rustic simplicity of the white-washed houses and fortress walls…
To the abundance of flowers and climbing vines…
This tiny jewel box of a town is enchanting! The fortress walls are steep…
But from along them you’ll get panoramic views over the town…
And over the undulating hills of the surrounding countryside.
And you just might spot a windmill or two!
such gorgeous pix! But wait, no pix of the food??? The sky is an impossible blue, wonderful. It’s an adorable town, all right.
love, mm
Hi Ma,
No, since the few salgados were presented a la Portuguesa (without fanfare – just plopped on a square of waxed paper atop a plate), they wouldn’t have come out very well in a photo. But they tasted perfect regardless:-)
I love you, J
