My sketches this week were crammed into the little bits of free time I had when I wasn’t practicing, rehearsing or performing in New Jersey for a concert with the Arco Ensemble. To be honest, I was beginning to think that maybe I was losing my love for drawing. However, when I got home last night after the concert and breathed a sigh of relief (both that the concert had gone well and that I had survived the commutes) I promptly sat down at my drafting table and starting working on new fashionista drawings.
This first sketch was a quickie; you’ll also be able to make out the outline of another sketch (not as successful) of the concertmaster of the Arco Ensemble.
On my way to meet my carpool yesterday morning, I sketched this figure in the subway.
Finally, I like this sketch the best. It was inspired by one of the models in the spring Boden catalog (my bedtime winding-down “reading” a few nights ago.)
Commuting to Jersey! I remember it well. Glad you didn’t have to take the bus. Looking forward to the new fashionista drawings!
Hi Helen,
My “driver” for this gig (one of the violinists) was great, but a bit more on the dare-devil side than I like. I jokingly told him if music doesn’t work out, he can always take on a career as a cab driver. But to be honest, a few times I found myself “sucking in” as if that would keep us from getting scraped by other cars as we straddled lanes.
My fashionistas are definitely undergoing some transformations as I work towards drawing them in ink. The ones from the past two days actually need a little surgery (limbs are doing odd things), so I haven’t quite hit my stride…but I’m getting there!
