Every year around this time, I make the trek over to 5th Avenue to see the Bergorf Goodman holiday windows. This year I had the pleasure of having my mom in town for Thanksgiving, so we started a little further south on 5th and were just in time to catch the light show outside Saks Fifth Avenue.
Coordinated to Christmas carols, the lights flickered on and off building in complexity to a climax that was a dazzling feast for the eyes!
A little farther north, Harry Winston…
And Tiffany and Co. were jeweled boxes for the jewels within!
Continuing with extraordinary bling-y-ness, the Bergdorf Goodman windows (“Brilliant” is this year’s theme) could be seen sparkling from a distance.
Upon closer inspection, I realized that each window’s display is made up of hundreds (thousands?) of Swarovski crystals.
The windows’ names are jewel-themed as well. Here’s the Crown Jewel window…
(Let’s take a closer look at the beaded hair…)
(And the high-carat poodle!)
The Hidden Gem window…
The Glitterati window…
The Treasured Window…
And the Crystal Ball window.
Of course, if colored gems aren’t your thing, there’s always the option of going icy…
Or, foregoing material things and just enjoying the enchantment of the season!
Here’s wishing you all a peaceful, joyous and very bright holiday season!
