Since the New York City Ballet winter season started 2 1/2 weeks ago, I’ve had little to no free time. But yesterday and today I finally got some…and I’ve been putting it to good use!
Yesterday, in my ongoing quest to simplify yet still make my illustrations as expressive as possible, I practiced creating some cartoon versions of myself.
I loved doing the facial expressions, but realized that I might need to rethink the body proportions as well.
(Where did my legs go?)
So today I worked on stick figure body drawings. I felt like I wasn’t making much progress until I decided to create a more fantastical pixie-like creature. Here she is…
Cute drawings, all of them! And the pixie looks like she might have stepped out of a Nutcracker somewhere, amirite?
Thanks, Helen! The pixie is developing…and hopefully will be flitting around some NY settings soon. 🙂
We got just enough snow this morning to make everything look sparkly and magical. Now the sun has pretty much “ruined” the effect, but I’m not complaining.
