When I first moved to New York City in the fall of 2010, I felt almost overwhelmed by the beauty of the architecture and the variety of interesting things to do and see. I also had more free time for exploring and loved visiting and discovering new neighborhoods and sights. These days, my schedule is a lot less free, and so time for “sightseeing” has taken a back seat to the day-to-day tasks of living and working. Fortunately, my eye is still drawn to the little details that make even my familiar neighborhood unusual and interesting.
This is what caught my eye on my walk home today…
The craftsmanship is magnificent! They put so much thought and details into their architecture… I look for that too Joana and you sure do get it! That is why there are many people who prefer older homes than the ones built now… Good job!

I noticed two townhouses for sale on the block where I took the pictures of the railings. Owning a townhouse in NYC would be a dream…unfortunately, even just buying an apartment here is out of our reach at this time. That said, I’ve gotten over the “sticker shock” I had when I first moved here from the Midwest. Now an $850,000 price tag on a 1 bedroom apartment seems like a real steal. Hah!
