There hasn’t been very much free time for sketching during my stay in Saratoga. When I’m not in the sticky, hot orchestra pit rehearsing and playing for the shows with the New York City Ballet, I’ve been mostly trying to recuperate in the comfort of the AC in our hotel room. It did occur to me, however, that I might find good subject matter on the TV, so I made up for lost time yesterday with these sketches while simultaneously catching up on the news!
A security guard outside the Democratic National Convention…
On the golf channel…
CNN commentator Wolf Blitzer (accompanied by faces seen during the advertising breaks)…
A commentator during the Republican National Convention…
A detective on Forensic Files along with another political commentator…
And thus concluded my evening of channel-surfing!
Hi Joana… You are quite a trooper, I kind of think you really love playing the violin!… Your sketches were great and quite amusing! I want to yell out a great big “THANK YOU” for the postcard, I love it! Until next time, Denise… Stay cool!!

Hi Denise,
So glad you liked your card and the postcard! I’m looking forward to getting back to my drafting table and scanner (sort of hard to take good photos of my sketchbook!) But yes, I do love playing music and the viola – even though playing in a semi-outdoors setting is not usually an ideal concert experience. Would you believe, even the dancers are spraying themselves with bug spray before they run out to take the stage!
Hope you are having a great week and staying cool down in Boca, too!
🙂 Joana
