I was supposed to meet a friend for lunch today, but most of the city was “cancelled” this morning due to a large winter storm. So I suited up in my warmest winter finery, pulled on my rain boots, and headed out with my camera – the first time in a long while that I’ve had an afternoon free to shoot pictures. I wasn’t the only one out in Central Park, but the blanket of snow, blustery wind and flurries made it still feel very isolated and peaceful.
Here’s what I saw…
Nice pictures. Went to CP by car yesterday !!!! Because it was 60 so I thought – get a walk in nature before the snow. Anyway I knew if I managed to walk there and back I wouldn’t have energy for the park itself so Alton drove me over. I finally started using the Central Park Entire app – and noticed there’s a camperdown elm. One of my favorite meditation trees at Kripalu. They call it the Prayer Tree there because it’s so powerful. So after I walked on the west side I had Alton drive me to the east side to see the tree. But alas it’s a shriveled up version behind a fence and even the grass it’s on is behind a fence. The east side is so different. Lots of green spaces fenced off. West side of central Park much better.

Hi Maureen,
Good for you for getting out and walking in the park! I know the west side of the park a lot better than I know the east side, although I do like the Conservatory Garden a lot. If it was more convenient, I’d also walk more in the south side of the park since there are lots of pretty vistas there, too. Andy had daffodils planted for me in Central Park one year as a birthday gift. He did it through the CP Conservancy so I don’t really know which daffodils are “mine.” So I like to think they are ALL mine!
Off to practice and then do battle with Sleeping Beauty again….sigh.

Hi Meh-meh,
Glad you liked the photos! I was beginning to feel like I was losing my touch. (Certainly doesn’t help when you have no time to be out taking photos.)
XOXOXOXOXO – J
