Photo of strawberry moon 2017 behind tree leaves in Washington, D.C., taken by Joana Miranda

Last week the strawberry moon rose over D.C. while I was in town performing with the New York City Ballet.  The bad news is that our performance that night got out a bit too late for me to see the moon rising on the horizon.  Even worse, the next night when we DID get out earlier I didn’t have my camera with me – you’ll just have to believe me when I tell you the moon that night WAS a fabulous salmon shade and looked ginormous!)

So that you can see I tried, here I am trying to capture the strawberry moon…

And here it is framed by the leaves of a tree.
