Here’s some wisdom from the trenches (+ a ‘toon squeezed in between tunes at my Wicked show last night!)
“There are two golden rules for an orchestra: start together and finish together. The public doesn’t give a damn what goes on in between.”
Clearly, this little excercise is benefiting you. You are becoming a maestra at speed cartooning, and the desperation of playing the same stuff over and over again is allowing the visual creative juices to take over. That happened to me once. I was at a really boring party, and that’s where I realized how many different men’s lapel pins I could make, just with the fabrics I had at home.
