I just got back from a week-long visit to Copenhagen, Denmark. I was there as “The Wife” – keeping my husband company on his tour with New York City Ballet. The shows took place at the Tivoli Concert Hall within Tivoli Gardens, and as a perk of being with the ballet, we were given free passes to the amusement park and rides.
I’ve never really been a fan of amusement parks, but this one is completely different than anything I’d ever experienced. By day it’s a charming landscaped oasis within the heart of the city; by night, it’s completely transformed into a magical fantasy land complete with…
Chinese lanterns illuminating food arcades –
A pagoda –
Pirate ship –
And Nimb Palace!
The rides range from kiddie to daredevil –
(Yes, I did screw up my courage to go on the Fatamorgana ride above!)
And when you need a break, there are plenty of places to rest…not to mention opportunities to indulge your sweet tooth!
(As you can see, my imagination took a sweet ride, too!)
Strolling the grounds feels like a trip back in time –
And you’re sure to leave the park feeling charmed!
(Or gobsmacked…you be the judge!)
