If you’re anything like me…
The news of the fire at Notre Dame today probably felt like an awful shock. Although I had been in Paris briefly in the ’90s, I fell head over heels in love with the City of Light in 2016 on a New York City Ballet tour to the Theatre du Chatelet. Everywhere I looked I saw culture and history…and the French attention to beauty in even the smallest details was quite the love letter to Paris. Needless to say, Paris inspired and filled me with awe. (Oh, and did I mention the food?!)
But, like life…
Today’s catastrophe serves as a painful and sobering reminder that absolutely nothing lasts forever.
(Except maybe LOVE!)

Yes, I do believe that true love IS forever. And whether it’s from the power of people around the world imagining their own love letter to Paris right now, or President Macron’s promise to rebuild, it does seem like there is hope ahead.
Great comment. Thanks for reminding us about hope.
Thanks, Martha! So glad you enjoyed the post about Notre Dame. The last I read, Macron is saying that the goal is to rebuild “an even better Notre Dame” in 5 years. I’ll be curious to see if they rebuild the spire. Do you suppose they have the old architectural plans somewhere? 🙂 Joana
