I seem to be spending a lot of time on the road this summer. And being away from home means that I’ve had to get creative with my drawing schedule and which supplies I haul around. But as you’ll see below, I’ve remained committed to cranking out as many funny ‘toons and illustrations as I can. Why? Because drawing keeps me “in the moment” and happy. Who knows, you might even see yourself in one of my cartoon snapshots and sketches one day!
I’ve created cartoon snapshots and sketches inspired by my mom’s Siamese cat…

(Little Puck is almost always interested in giving me feedback, too!)
And I’ve done cartoon snapshots of imaginary friends…

Action figure studies based on me…

(I can’t quite yet get my legs straight in Firefly pose, but my cartoon self can!)
And impromptu drawings of unsuspecting dining companions!

In short, I’ve gone to the ends of the earth in search of inspiration.

(Ok, maybe not literally, but Glendale, Wisconsin sort of qualifies, right?)
Even though I SHOULD be feeling like this…

I’m finding myself inspired by all that I’ve learned and the new cartoon and illustration frontiers I want to tackle next!
How about you? Do you have a creative activity that puts you in a state of flow? Does it inspire you to keep learning even when you encounter challenges? I’d love to hear!
Oh you are creative all right. Pucky and I approve! And as far as MY creativity, I will be so pleased if my sculpture of Diana the Huntress does not fall face down in my NY cheesecake tonight…..
Take pictures!!!! I can’t wait to see pictures of Diana in all of her finery presiding over the cheesecakes. Did you add the sour cream yet? What time do the book club ladies arrive? xox – J
