Happy Inktober 2019! Yes, I’ve decided to jump on the Inktober bandwagon this year. For those of you who’ve followed my blog for some time now, you know that I’m no stranger to challenges. In fact, the same year that Jade Parker first dreamed up Inktober, I was also busy at work on my own personal drawing/design challenge. For one entire year (that’s right, 365 days!), I posted a jewelry design a day here on my blog. You can see some of those posts here, here, and here. (If you’d like to see more, just type in “Design a Day” into my blog’s search field.) But I digress. This Inktober I’ve decided to up the ante for myself by creating freehand pen illustrations of each Inktober prompt. And I’ll be documenting my daily progress over at Joana Miranda Studio at Youtube.

Meanwhile, in other happy news, I am thrilled to announce that I am one of two featured artists this month on the NY Metropolitan chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. As you’ve probably noticed, I love to create art for children of all ages. Being featured on the SCBWI website is validation and an honor.

And in closing, on the subject of happiness…

There is no value in life except what you choose to place upon it and no happiness in any place except what you bring to it yourself.
