With the frenzy of the holiday season nearing its peak, I figure we can all do with some levity right about now. (And, in my case, I do funny best when I’m drawing!) Whether your a fan or hater of fruitcake, I hope my latest Christmas fruitcake cartoon does bring a laugh.

Giving credit where it’s due –
Every once in a while a customer will ask if I have a specific type of illustration or greeting card in my shop at Etsy. In this case, I have my loyal client, Sherry, to thank for planting the germ of an idea. She purchased this holiday fruitcake cartoon card from me last year…

However, she needed a NEW fruitcake-themed card to send her sister this year. (Apparently, the sisters have an ongoing holiday fruitcake joke. Every year, starting just after Thanksgiving, they send each other 2 and 3 fruitcake-themed cards every week for the duration of the holiday!) I loved Sherry’s story so much that this past week I customized one of my existing holiday cards for her. And then I put the finishing touches on my newest Christmas fruitcake cartoon greeting card today.
Even though it might be too late for Sherry for this holiday season, like the longevity of fruitcakes, I’m hoping that my Christmas Fruitcake Cartoon will stand the test of time.
Finally, one more thought on the joys of fruitcake…
The worst gift is a fruitcake. There is only one fruitcake in the entire world, and people keep sending it to each other.
