The latest illustration in my Moleskine Art Sketchbook features some unlikely animal pals. I say “unlikely”; however, I did see this funny video today which proves that cats and birds can be best friends. My unlikely pals doodle illustration was drawn entirely freehand in ink, then colored with watercolors.

If you’ve been around this site for a while, you’ll know that one of my sources of inspiration has been my mom’s Siamese cat, Puck. Recently, my mom added ANOTHER little being to her menagerie; an oh-so-sweet Lilac Point Siamese kitten called Tita.

I have yet to meet Tita in person (nothing like a pandemic to throw a wrench into all of our lives and travel plans!) but thanks to video calls I have already spent hours with her every day. And, I’m happy to report that pet therapy via video is almost as good as the real thing!

How true how true, your quote! Lovely pix of my babies!!i love the cat and bird illustrations and I know where you got the inspiration. Animals are wonderful. So are you. Xoxo mm
Well, you took the picture of the babies, so that’s why it’s so good. Too bad they aren’t always lovey-doveys, but that will come in time!

Oh my, Puck seems very taken with his new friend! Was he OK with her from the start? Love the cat and bird doodles. This looks like it could be a fun fabric design. Also, your flower and garden elf design! Good for textiles and coloring books.
Hi Helen,
Puck isn’t always delighted to have a baby sister. But sometimes he licks her all over which I think is a good sign. Other times he swats at her and growls, which is obviously not a good sign. But they both sleep on the bed with my mom and I’ve seen them napping near each other on the bed, too. It’s only been a month since my mom got Tita, so I’m pretty sure the “babies” will figure out how to live in harmony soon. I’ll keep posting pictures. 🙂
