I create happy illustration art because it serves as my escape from day to day reality. And I think you’ll agree that the realities of this year have been pretty hard on most of the world!

Actually, to be honest I wasn’t completely HAPPY with the entirety of this illustration when I finished it in my Moleskine notebook. Which is why I’ve only included a portion of the illustration below:

But, like the funny bird above, I’m ready to leap into a new month. Right now, August seems full of possibilities and promise to me. I know I’m probably being a Polly-Joana, but I remain hopeful that better news will be coming to us all soon. Fingers, toes and webbed feet are all crossed.

In other news…

I posted a new Art Bag: Time Saving Tips and Tricks video on my Youtube Channel on Friday. If you don’t subscribe to my channel, you can see the video below:

P.S.

A few days ago, I also sent out my monthly newsletter update to my Joana Miranda Studio newsletter subscribers. The newsletter included a discount coupon as well as two brand new illustrations. If you’d like to be added to my newsletter list, please sign up here. (As a bonus for signing up, you’ll also get a 15% off coupon good on anything in my shop at Etsy!)

Happiness is a direction, not a place.

Oh my, love the scarf trick. And the water pen! Hmm, I wonder if a water pen would work on my pots??? You are very cute. (My unbiased opinion)

      Hi Mm,

I should enlist Andy’s help with making my videos more magical. Maybe he could make me disappear? Hee-hee!
