In my latest Lines and Limericks drawing video, I created a freehand drawn chef spot art illustration. I was actually multi-tasking, too, since I had a batch of Christmas cookies in the oven. ‘Tis the season, afterall!

The inside scoop…
Even though I’m getting a tiny bit more comfortable with talking on camera, I still find the video medium challenging. Setting aside the frustration of the constant background noise in New York City, it’s also hard to focus the camera on yourself when you’re not standing in the frame. In this video, the “glamour” haze (i.e. out of focus face) wasn’t my intention; however, you will be able to admire many of our holiday ornaments and DVD collection in GREAT detail.
Fortunately, the drawing parts of my videos always give me great pleasure, which is a good thing.
P.S.
In year’s past, I baked GOBS of cookies. Since we’ve switched over to eating more of a gluten-free diet, I’ve tried to find good substitute recipes for my favorite holiday cookies. You’ll see these ginger snaps towards the end of my video. And if you like ginger snaps but want to keep to paleo or gluten-free eating, I really think the recipe is a winner!
The verdict’s still out on the gluten-free almond crescents (picture above.) We’ll have those for dessert tonight. If they’re good, I’ll post a link to the recipe here.
Oh my Inquiring minds need to have the recipe for the almond crescents. Were they good? You are getting so good at the videos! Xox mm
Hi Meh-meh,
When I made the cookies today I inadvertently pulled a “Meh-meh follows the recipe” act. It wasn’t exactly intentional, though. Even though we had a bottle of almond extract, when I went to open it, I discovered that it was empty. So, I wasn’t able to add almond extract. And then I discovered that we didn’t exactly have the 4 tablespoons of almond butter, so I added in a little bit of tahini as well as a bit of butter. And I didn’t have dried powdered coconut for the sprinkling so I made a glaze of almond milk with powdered sugar and added sprinkles which were maybe 2 months past their expiration date. Oy vey! SO, I can’t say that my result was anything like it was supposed to be.
That said, the texture of the cookies was very nice and I think they would be really delicious if I made them exactly as the recipe says. Who da thunk it?

So fun Joanna! Who sings the “Cheesey “song in your video? Merry Christmas cousin . Sending love🎄❤️🧀
Hi Cindy,
Happy holidays! Thanks so much for watching my video and for commenting. According to Zapsplat Royalty Free music where I got the tune to accompany my video, the description says “If Elvis had recorded a comedy Christmas song about cheeses at the Sun Studio in 1956… this would be it” Unfortunately, I can’t find out any more than that. I thought the lyrics were fun, too, even if they did compete a bit with my own (brilliant) limerick. 😉

The cookies are fine, but where’s the cat?
Well, since I’ve been “torturing” him with eye drops and antibiotic syringes, I thought I shouldn’t try pushing my luck with making him appear on camera. I’ll see if he’s ready for another star turn on Monday. 🙂
