I haven’t done the best job of late with posting new work from my “easel.” So, please accept my sincerest apologies for that. Actually, I do have a good excuse. I’ve been getting up with the early birds this week to travel to New Jersey to rehearse and perform with the New Jersey Symphony. It’s my second week of socially-distanced, masked orchestra playing during this pandemic. While I’m thrilled with the work and feel very fortunate to be hired, performing to an empty house does feel odd. Fortunately, the performances are being videotaped for future broadcast. If you see the broadcast, know that I’m smiling from behind my black mask.
Meanwhile, here’s the latest from my easel…
(Or, more specifically, from my Moleskine art sketchbook!)
As you can see, I’m continuing with my alphabet-inspired illustration project. I drew these whimsical cartoon illustrations with my vintage Carter’s fountain pen. Then, I added watercolor with my Fan Watercolor Palette and a water brush pen. I confess that I had to Google “Words that start with E” since I began to draw a blank (literally) halfway through this two-page spread. (E appears to be a rather prosaic letter.)
The two new drawing videos…
On my channel at YouTube this week might amuse you, too. The first features one of my favorite subjects:
And, in the second, the inspiration came from a common household object:
(Both illustrations were drawn with my vintage fountain pen filled with DeAtrementis Document Ink.)
P.S.
I’ll be posting a new video on Friday. If you subscribe to my channel at YouTube and toggle on the notification bell, you’ll get an alert the moment the video is up. Just saying…
I liked your E E- normously! Xoxo 😘
Yay! Another E word! 🙂 I also like you, E-normously!

i E-specially like the guy lifting the Q-tip! Just received my John/Kira truffles…..saving them for after I finish what I’ve got on the dining room table. Also going to try my new Phi Kind truffles soon.
Hi Helen,
I forgot to look up the Phi Kind truffles. Maybe we’ll be adding them to our chocolate “repertoire” soon. 🙂 I have resisted breaking into our John and Kira’s truffles…such will power, I know! I did buy a bottle of bubbly today, so on Sunday we’ll be wallowing in chocolate and champagne. Yay!
My NJSO gig is now done. Four long days of being double-masked for 8 hours wasn’t exactly fun, but I was still grateful for the work. Now I’m grateful to be able to get back to my drafting table.:-)
I hope you have a great weekend!
