Earlier this pandemic, my husband and I had a lot of fun watching the baking show Nailed It. (Of course, seeing Jacques Torres as one of the show’s hosts also inspired us to make several runs to his eponymous chocolate shop.) Today’s post was inspired by the show and by my mom who happens to be a frequent source of inspiration for me. While she might disown me after seeing my Drawing Demo – Nailed It?, I’m kind of hoping that, with her usual sense of great humor, she’ll take it all in stride.
Drawing Demo – Nailed It?
About the inspiration…
My mom is a fabulous potter. She also has an uncanny (self-taught) knack for making truly glorious floral arrangements. But, sometimes, when it comes to baking (especially the recipes I send her) the results tend to come out, well…different from mine.
On the subject of results…
Last week was certainly not a week for showcasing results here on my blog. In fact, I’m shocked that I let over a week go by without posting ANYTHING. Even though I sometimes wonder if pandemic “languishing” is my new malady, I feel like I can still pat myself on the back for staying creative and (mostly) productive. In fact, I DID create a handful of new illustrations and cartoons since my last post. Unfortunately, I can’t share any of what I created since the work was either for corporate clients or for publication submissions.
Sigh – such is the life of an illustrator/cartoonist!
But, if you enjoy my drawing videos…
You can watch two more:
P.S.
I post my drawing videos every Monday and Friday on my channel at YouTube. If there’s something you’d like to see me draw (or a technique you’d like explained), please let me know in the comments below.
Hope you have a magical weekend!
Well, my favorite is the one with the fairy, of course!
I hope the Happy Weekend Fairy spreads sprinkles some of her sparkle on YOUR weekend, my dear!

Loved the monkeys! It makes me want to get to the Milwaukee zoo this summer after The Pandemic Year!
Hi Anne,
I’ve always loved monkeys…and used to fantasize about having one as a pet. 🙂 I don’t remember the monkeys at the Milwaukee Zoo, but I did have fun watching them at the Sydney Zoo a few years ago. I hope you are enjoying your garden. I bet it’s fabulous this year! The flowering trees in Central Park seem extra beautiful this year, but maybe that’s just because I’m feeling grateful to be vaccinated and able to remove my mask when I’m outside (away from people.)
