Happy Hour is pretty much the best hour of the day, in my humble opinion. It’s especially nice when you’ve put in a full day of work. Since I put in quite a few long days of work playing with the the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra these past two weeks, happy hour was on my mind more than usual. Suffice to say I felt very ready to kick back each evening with a drink and some hors d’oeuvres. The fact that happy hour art emerged from my fountain pen in my Moleskine sketchbook sort of felt like a natural segue, too!

And, in case you’re interested…

Here’s a link to my favorite Guacamole recipe from Rosa Mexicana’s restaurant. In fact, the traditional molcajete vessel that Rosa’s waiters use to prepare and serve the guacamole was in my mind when I drew my illustration. If you like guacamole, I suggest you whip up a batch and dive right in. You’ll be in for a treat!

Happy Friday!

Oh me, too. I love happy hour. And guacamole. And your watercolors. And you!

Too bad we can’t have happy hour together more often. So we’ll just have to cram it in for our visit in June. 🙂

      Hi Helen,

As a young thing (eons ago), I HATED avocado. But now I can’t get enough of it…avocado toast, guacamole, sliced avocado on salads, etc. I even make a really good chocolate “mousse” that’s made with avocado, dark chocolate and a little bit of sweetener (like maple syrup). You don’t taste the avocado in the mousse, but it gives it a wonderful creamy and rich consistency. Mmmmm!

Hope you have a lovely Sunday!
