Happy Sunday and happy August 1st! Even though the news has been a bit demoralizing this week – will this pandemic ever end? – I’ve tried to stay positive. Mostly, this has meant limiting the amount of news I read and, as ever, keeping focused on creative projects. For those of you who enjoy reading the Sunday Funnies, here’s my version for you to enjoy!

The illustrations above were drawn freehand with my Carter’s fountain pen, then colored with watercolor pencils and a water brush pen.

Meanwhile…

Our two Toybob cats are head over paws in love with each other now. While they do engage in periodic bouts of energetic wrestling, it’s even more common these days to find them in ever creative “cuddle puddle” formations.

Fortunately, every once in a while they also “un-glom” themselves just long enough for me to take a portrait!

In closing…

Having a bunch of cats around is good. If you’re feeling bad, you just look at the cats, you’ll feel better because they know that everything is just as it is. There’s nothing to get excited about. They just know. They’re saviours.

Ziggy and Ollie are just darling! I’m so glad everything’s going well. My cats also chase mice outdoors. They have been known to sometimes bring a mouse INTO THE HOUSE to finish it off. They’re just playing with them, and when the mouse dies of a heart attack or whatever, the toy is no longer any fun, so I get to clean up the corpse.

Fortunately, neither boy has encountered a REAL mouse in our apartment, though I did see a mouse once a few years back. But after that encounter I plugged every hole I could find and we set traps…but never caught anything. Ffeuuf!! Is Meshay now over all of his eye health issues?
And what’s coming up in your garden now?:-)
