I’m very proud of my balcony garden…and for those of you who care, here is a mid-summer update of how things now stand (grow?)

My 2014 summer balcony

My Dahlias seem very happy.  In fact, I think there’s been a little hanky-panky going on.  Although I planted orange and yellow flowers, the new blooms are emerging  in this lovely salmon shade.

The New Guinea Impatiens are also thriving, and seem to love soaking up the afternoon sun.

And I’ve got tomatoes!  At last count, 14 of ’em!  I didn’t look at the label when I purchased the plant so I don’t know what kind of tomatoes I actually have.  (But I’m hoping they are cherry tomatoes so that we can eat them soon!)

My white geranium is still going strong…

And the Mandevilla plant embraced the railing and created an explosion of pink!

I’ve also got a few “lazy man’s” plants.  A tiny cactus sits atop our patio table…

And the Aloe nearby gets bigger by the day.

I don’t think those are cherry tomatoes, doesn’t look like the shape. But they are definitely getting ripe quickly – I see orange coming out. Hope you get to eat one!
The mandevilla is lovely! (I’ve never gotten one to bloom….sigh….)

      Hi Ma,

I was thinking the same about the tomatoes since the bottoms look pointy. But at this point it’s like the plant wants all of the tomatoes to get to the same size before it does anything new. They are almost all about the size of a jaw breaker, but no bigger. Sigh.

My mandevilla is getting pelted with rain right now. Serves it right, too, for sticking so far out from the balcony railing.

      Love, J

Thank you, my dear! You should have seen the storm that just swept across the balcony – we even had hail! But fortunately the storm was brief so I think all my tomatoes are still on the vine. They better hurry up and ripen, though. I’m losing my patience;-)
